Inconel 718 (UNS N07718) Precipitation-Hardened Alloy: High-Strength Performance

Inconel 718 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy containing significant amounts of iron, niobium, and molybdenum, along with smaller amounts of aluminum and titanium. It is engineered to provide exceptionally high yield, tensile, and creep-rupture properties at temperatures up to 704°C (1300°F).

Technical Specifications

  • Chemical Composition: 50%-55% Ni, 17%-21% Cr, 4.75%-5.5% Niobium (Nb), and 2.8%-3.3% Mo.

  • Mechanical Strength: Through age-hardening, it achieves far higher strength than Inconel 600 or 625.

  • Applications: Aerospace (jet engines and rocket motors), oil and gas (high-strength bolts and wellhead tools), and nuclear engineering.
